The sacred Peepal tree is on the grounds of the Hare Krishna Temple & Cultural Center

peepal-at-iskconOne of the sacred trees in the world, Peepal is widely known in India for its benedictory and medicinal values. This tree has been worshipped for thousands of generations and believed to relieve one from the ill effects of planetary alignments. It is also considered that the trimurtis, the three universal controllers: Brahma ( the creator), Vishnu ( the maintainer) and Shiva ( the destroyer) reside in this tree and hence worshippable.

Apart from its significance in religious beliefs, this tree offers innumerable health benefits and is been used in Ayurvedic medicine. The leaves, flowers, fruits and the bark of Peepal tree are used for curing infertility in women, ear aches, stomach aches, gout, palpitations, urinary disorders, constipation, diarrhea, skin diseases, inflammation & piles, to name a few.
