February 19-21st, 2010, Unity Church - Houston: The Texas Yoga Conference (TYC) was founded in 2009 by Houston area yoga studio owners, who share a passion. That passion is to introduce, represent, and support Texas yogis and the Texas yoga community. The conference intends to inspire the general public about yoga and to educate it about the numerous and diverse branches of yoga. TYC and its creators believe yoga is an art form of the body, mind and spirit. They esteem that yoga expresses the art of living and being fully present in the moment. This being-in-the-moment is aligned with a dedication to peace and wellness.
Presenters from California and all over the world, whose hearts are as big as our state, will be coming to the conference to support the mission. Texas greets and accepts them like family. TYC would like to salute honorable guests Arthur Klein, Gopala, Hemalayaa, Etan Boritzer, and Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band, all of whom are joining TYC to promote the celebration of Texas Yoga by "Two-Steppin'" our Texas talent in the very first Texas Yoga Conference in Houston. For entertainment (and inspiration), Arthur Klein, filmmaker, will premiere his documentary, Y Yoga, on Friday night. Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band along with special guests, kirtan musicians and Ecstatic Dance, will be held on Saturday night. The cover charge for Saturday evening's concert will be a suggested donation of $20.
On Saturday at 10:45 a.m., architect Stephen Klimas and "Yoga Visionary," Jenny Buergermeister, will introduce the launch of The OM Project. The OM Project is an inspirational and educational community-based project, all of whose members will be proud to take part. The OM project is a holistic-wellness, yoga, and meditation sanctuary away from the city to where all citizens can retreat and is donation-based. Here they can find rest and tranquility and "un-plug" from their hectic schedules and obligations.
The First Annual Texas Yoga Conference will be hosted by Unity Church (2929 Unity Drive, Houston, TX) on February 19-20, 2010. Hemalayaa Behl will give her Bollywood and Shakti/Kama Sutra Dance Workout, a 3-hour honorary workshop, on Sunday, February 21, 2010. This Shakti-awakening event will be the encore to the TYC. Hemalayaa's finale will be 2-5 p.m. at Unity Church on Sunday, February 21st. This workshop is $40 if paid before January 1, 2010, $50 thereafter. It is not included with the two-day conference pass. All conference passes and tickets can be purchased at www.texasyogaconference.com.
